2025-26 HCSD Teacher of the Year

(December 15, 2025) – We are thrilled to announce that our 2025-26 Harrison County School District Teacher of the Year is Mr. Cody Eadie!
The exciting announcement came during tonight's Harrison County School Board meeting, as we celebrated the Teachers of the Year from every school in the district. It was a momentous occasion, and we couldn’t be prouder to honor Mr. Eadie for his exceptional dedication to our students and community.
Mr. Eadie has been a pillar of excellence at Harrison Central High School for 13 years. He currently teaches 10th-12th-grade English II, AP Seminar, AP Research, and Dual Credit Composition I and II, and has served as the English Department Chair since 2017. His impact extends beyond the classroom, as he has worked tirelessly to elevate ACT preparation and student achievement within the district.
Here’s a closer look at the incredible achievements of Mr. Eadie:
Education:
•Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of South Alabama
•Master of Education in Secondary Education from William Carey University
Accolades and Certifications:
•National Board Certified Educator
•Mississippi STAR Teacher award recipient for a record nine times
•ACT Instructional Mastery Trainer for the past five years
Notable Contributions:
Mr. Eadie has transformed the ACT preparation program at HCHS, contributing to a dramatic rise in the number of students scoring 30+ on the ACT and propelling students to attend prestigious universities. Since 2019, HCHS has sent about 25 students to Top 20 institutions, including Ivy League Universities and highly selective research campuses. He was instrumental in introducing the AP Capstone Diploma at HCHS, positioning the school as one of the select few in the state to offer this advanced program.
As HCHS Principal Rachel Burt notes, “Mr. Eadie consistently produces exceptional results. In his English II classes, his proficiency rate has never fallen below 90%, and his growth rate is a perfect 100%. His work has elevated the academic reputation of our school and has opened doors for countless students.”
"For many of our students, high ACT scores and competitive college admissions felt distant or unrealistic,” said Eadie. “In 2019, we experienced a milestone none of us will forget: our first Ivy League acceptance. That moment changed something in our building. It made the abstract feel attainable and showed students that achievement was not reserved for a certain type of person or school.”
Over the years, Mr. Eadie has also been selected for the following honors:
•2021 HCHS Yearbook Dedication Recipient
•2020 Gulfport Chamber Grant Recipient
•2020 Darrell Saucier HCSD Grant Recipient
It may surprise some people to know that Mr. Edie once planned to pursue a law degree. However, after graduating from college, what began as a temporary teaching job quickly became his calling. Over the years, his dedication to his students and his passion for education have made a lasting impact on our entire community.
Congratulations, Mr. Eadie, on this well-deserved honor! Your hard work and commitment to student success continue to inspire us!
